Google Pay and Apple Pay unusable in Russia

Google Pay e Apple Pay have become almost unusable in Russia. Many cards issued by major Russian banks cannot in fact take advantage of the two well-known digital payment services. This was communicated by the Central Bank of Russia, reporting the institutions involved are VTB Group, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Promsvyazbanto Discovery.

Holders of credit cards issued by these banks will not be able to be used abroad or for online payments linked to companies located in the countries that issued the sanctions.
In fact, in recent days a large part of the world – including the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia – has sanctioned Russia in an attempt to discourage further actions in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Russian population seems to have stormed ATMs with the aim of withdrawing US dollars, worried that the ruble could lose value. However, the banks now seem short of US dollars but guarantee full access to their customers’ assets.
