Hogwarts Legacy: how does the title run on PS5? Analysis on Sony consoles

Turns around, a technical analysis is never denied: let’s see how Hogwarts Legacy behaves on one of the two next-gen consoles, PS5

With the release of Hogwarts Legacy on the rump, it is more than natural that being PS5 one of the first two platforms the game comes out on we have every right to wonder how does it run on the hardware. Priority, on the other hand, puts buyers of the most modern consoles in the position of being more demanding, which is why we report the latest video from ElAnalistaDeBits below. The video goes to dissect the performance of the title on all three platforms on which the open-world interpretation of the witch-like imagery created by JK Rowling has set the first stage of the console tour.

How the (gaming) world of Hogwarts Legacy works on PS5

On PS5, as well as on the other consoles, Hogwarts Legacy offers five modes, and runs on par with its PC counterpart thanks to the Quality Mode setting. We are therefore talking about 1800p in terms of resolution, but also about 30 FPS without ray-tracing. The video mode also improves the draw distance (the maximum distance viewing of 3D models), vegetation, texture quality, lighting and much more on consoles. Ray-tracing can be applied to shadows and reflections, but on every platform it seems to cause problems. You can also see this with the video below.

The quality of the textures and the aforementioned draw distance they take quite a hit on consoles. The mode, moreover, is defined a bit too pure for PCs, leading to believe that ray-tracing was a “superfluous improvement”. High framerate modes are also available for the Balanced and Performance options, although they can only be enabled on 120 hertz monitors. In terms of performance, the strong point of PS5 is the ray-tracing mode. The rest limps a bit in each room of the castle, and in each version the game pauses temporarily to load the room. Other than that, there are no issues to report.
