Hyundai presented its new fully electric car model in Italy: Ioniq 6, the Electrified Streamliner. A vehicle that redefines and revolutionizes the mobility of the brand, with a range of good 610 km it’s a aerodynamic design outside and redefining the interior spaces. And the Korean home looks even further with two new Concept N inspired by this model.
Hyundai Ioniq 6: aerodynamic electric
The new car is inspired by the concept EV Hyundai Prophecy, converging simple and clean lines in a highly aerodynamic shape. The design streamline on the outside it favors aerodynamics, also allowing to increase the high autonomy of the vehicle.
But Hyundai defines its design as “ethical”, not just aesthetic. In fact, he worked on the details to increase energy efficiency and uses sustainable materials. The silhoutte sculpt with simple and sinuous curves has a coefficient of aerodynamic drag equal to 0.21, very little. Also thanks to the low front, the deflectors, the reduced wheel arches and the digital side mirrors. Hyundai’s effort for aerodynamics also comes under the vehicle, optimized to the maximum.
Also fundamental in the design is the use of more than 700 Parametric Pixel, in the interior headlights as well as in the rear lights and more. With the renewed emblema “H”Which finds space both in the front and rear of the vehicle.
Enormous attention to the cocoon-style interiors envelops those who get on the vehicle, almost cuddling them. Drive long and in full control
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 can be paired with two electric motors. On the one hand that rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a single engine or all-wheel drive (AWD) with two engines. The top of the range AWD configuration allows you to combine 239 kW e 605 Nm of torque, to go from zero to one hundred in 5.1 seconds. And with the battery from 77,4 kWh it also offers excellent autonomy. Instead the standard 53 kWh with the RWD configuration it offers a consumption below i 14 kWh/100 km. One of the most efficient on the market.
The E-GMP architecture allows to support charges da 400V e 800V, the latter standard, at no additional cost. With a 350 kW charger you can charge Hyundai Ioniq 6 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. And with technology Vehicle-to-Load you can charge any device (smartphone, laptop, etc.) on board.
Hyundai has also thought about the driving experience, with solutions such as theEV Perfomance Tune-Up to adjust the driving parameters: steering resistance, engine power, throttle sensitivity and more. And with Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD) you will have a ‘spaceship’ sound when you move.
The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems they also make driving easier. Do you have theHighway Driving Assist for highway driving, centering on the lane and keeping distance. The Smart Cruise Control it not only maintains the speed you want, but also your driving style learned with machine learning. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist instead it allows to avoid frontal collisions, even with pedestrians crossing the road.
And they are just the beginning. There are systems to avoid collisions in blind spots, to park (even remotely) and to signal the arrival of a car as you get off after parking. And all these novelties will receive OTA (Over-The-Air) updates to stay up to date.
Hyundai Ioniq 6: colors and availability
The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 comes in twelve exterior colors: Gravity Gold Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Nocturne Gray Metallic, Nocturne Gray Matte, Transmission Blue Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Digital Green Pearl, Digital Green Matte e Byte Blue.
The start of production of this vehicle is scheduled for third quarter 2022, while at the moment there is no date for the launch in Italy. But we will keep you updated.
Concept RN22e e N Vision 74
In addition to presenting the new Ioniq 6, Hyundai talked about two new interesting concepts: RN22e e N Vision 74. The first of the two is based precisely on Ioniq 6 on the E-GMP, designed to set a new standard for high performance electric vehicles. On the other hand, N Vision 74 combines EV technology with a hydrogen fuel cell system.
RN22e it’s a “rolling lab”On which Hyundai engineers can test how to improve EV performance. They are currently working on cooling and braking to increase endurance. With monobloc calipers a four pistons and 40mm hybrid disc, engineers experiment on the track how to increase regenerative braking and at the same time improve braking and corner entry performance.
RN22e
N Vision 74 pays homage to the concept 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe in design, but combines two sustainable technologies to look to the future. In fact, it is a hybrid rolling lab with high-performance hydrogen fuel cells, which are placed side by side with the battery of the electric car. At the moment Hyundai is studying how to exploit this double power in different driving conditions, trying to provide both performance and above average range.
The brand therefore seems to focus on sustainability both in the short and long term. Without forgetting those characteristics that we have always sought in engines: power, autonomy, driving comfort.
