If I can dream: the Elvis song sung by the Maneskin band will be part of the Presley movie

If I can dream will be part of the film about Presley and will be sung by Maneskin, a well-known Italian musical group. After last year’s victory, they returned to the Eurovision stage with the songs Supermodel and If I can dream.

We saw them on the stage of the final evening of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, one year after the victory in Rotterdam.

The Maneskin inflamed the audience with their new single Supermodel, but the surprise came with a cover by Elvis Presley, precisely of the song If I Can Dream. It is one of the many songs made eternal by the King of Rock, but it has a peculiarity: published in 1968, it was the artist’s first song with a social background and contains references to the famous speech “I have a Dream” by Martin Luther King.

The news is that this version of Maneskin will be featured in the official soundtrack of the biopic Elvis, directed by Australian director Baz Luhrmann which will be presented in the coming days at the Cannes Film Festival.

In the film Elvis is played by Austin Butler, while Tom Hanks is his manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The story explores the two decades in which Presley became and consolidated as a planetary star, as America experiences a progressive loss of innocence.
