Disney has finally announced the arrival of a third Pretty Princess film. Anne Hathaway has always stated that she is willing to play Princess Mia

Disney has officially announced that a third film in the Pretty Princess saga is in the works. It seems that Anne Hathaway’s insistence has finally paid off.

Very early we could go back to the tiny kingdom of Genovia together with Princess Mia. It’s been almost 20 years since Anne Hathaway last played the princess.

And, after nearly 20 years, we may finally see the imaginary world drawn from Meg Cabot’s novels again.

In fact, in 2001 the first film was released, entitled Pretty Princess directed by Gery Marshall, who scored a double, also signing the second, released in 2004, entitled Prince Charming Wanted.

Unfortunately it is not possible to have Marshall back as director, due to his passing in 2016.

However we will be able to see many familiar faces from the original cast.

What do we know

The project is still sketchyso there are many things that are still to be decided.

It has been disclosed that at the head of the script we will find Aadrita Mukerjiand how executive producer, we will find Debra Martin Chase againwho had helmed the previous two films.

Plot details are not yet available, however we are confident that it will not be a remake or reboot, ma will instead be a sequel aimed at continuing Mia’s story (now Queen).

Will Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews be in the cast?

Therefore everything suggests that we will see Anne Hathaway as Miahaving already played her in previous films.

The actress has repeatedly reiterated her interest in a possible revival. In addition, the actress has recently declared her willingness to return to work alongside Julie Andrews.

Disney has not yet communicated its intentions regarding this third chapter, but it is almost automatic to think of Hathaway as the protagonist. We still don’t know anything about Julie Andrews’ possible involvement, or if she’s willing to return as Queen Clarisse Renaldi.
