Jim Ryan: “God of War Ragnarok will be released next year” (maybe)

In a recent interview with TMT Post, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan talked about the releases in the coming months of the great Sony exclusives, including God of War: Ragnarok.

Announced in a showcase dedicated to PlayStation 5 last September, the rumors regarding God of War 2, or Ragnarok, or whatever you want to call it are becoming more and more incessant. It will surely be because of the game we have seen practically nothing, just the presentation teaser trailer during the aforementioned showcase, it will be because of its cross-gen nature that scares many, it will be because, instead, Horizon Forbidden West has received an extensive gameplay trailer, anyone who belongs to or follows the gaming industry is with their ears pointed for any information. There is also a lack of certain information on an exit window, because let’s face it: no one has ever believed in that 2021 initially presented. Officially postponed to 2022 not long ago, Santa Monica and Sony remained silent… until a few hours ago.

In an interview with TMT Post, in fact, Sony PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan was asked about the exit window of the two flagship exclusives of the company arriving in the near future, just Horizon and God of War in short. If the first, in fact, is scheduled for the 2021 Holidays, the generic “2022” of God of War could fall both in the first months of the year, as happened with the first chapter of the Reboot, and in the Christmas period.

Jim Ryan on the God of War: Ragnarok exit window

In the interview, Ryan was very broad and generic, but confirmed that God of War Ragnarok is expected “over the next year or so” and considering the release of Horizon for the Christmas holidays this year, maybe we should expect the Santa Monica title no earlier than summer 2022. What worries, mainly, is that “down there”, which seems a decent way to gloss over the subject, as Ryan often does.

In short, Jim Ryan has not been able to give particular explanations regarding the release of God of War: Ragnarok, but a rumor suggests that in the month of August we will have some further information and, perhaps, even a new trailer.
