Taiwanese Kymco has officially launched the new Like 125 EV electric scooter model, ready to challenge the traffic of the great European cities. Undoubtedly, however, the most “newsworthy” feature is the price at which it will be offered, or 1,200 euros. If you then take advantage of the 2022 eco-bonus, the cost to be incurred for this interesting electric scooter even drops below 1,000 euros.
Intended for the European market, the eco-friendly scooter uses a 3.2 kW electric motor capable of delivering power up to 4.3 hp and 124 Nm of torque. As the name suggests, Kymco Like 125 EV is equivalent to a 125cc with heat engine. With a total weight of 110 kg and a maximum speed that should be around 45 km / h, it is clear that this model is essentially intended for the urban commuter who has to navigate city traffic every day.
Another of the features to consider offered by Kymco for this model is the battery positioned under the saddle. The scooter is equipped with two battery packs to offer maximum autonomy.
Not too big, the battery of the Kymco Like 125 EV is one 50 V and 13 Ah version, that is, capable of supplying about 650 Watts. Although it seems small, the battery position is very convenient for taking it out of the scooter and, not least, it is also easy to transport. It weighs only 5 kilograms so you shouldn’t have to struggle when taken off the scooter to be able to recharge it at home. The batteries take advantage of Kymco’s proprietary technology called IONEX which guarantees total recharge in less than an hour and at least 1,000 life cycles.
Kymco Like 125 EV, five batteries for 200 km of autonomy
Note that if the two integrated batteries are removed and recharged, the Kymco Like 125 EV can still be used because in the unit there is an internal battery with a capacity of 550 Watts.
When there are no batteries, the underseat can accommodate a full-face helmet, as well as three spare IONEX batteries given the total capacity of 27 liters.
If the engine is powered by the five batteries, the Kymco Like 125 EV can reach 200 kilometers of autonomy (Kymco declares 199 to be exact), truly a distance that few other electric scooters can guarantee, especially in this price range.
The Kymco Like 125 EV bears some resemblance to some of the petrol-powered Kymco models such as the Like 150. There are a few improvements, however, including the headlight cover, rear handle and headlight bezel, which displays a blue finish. . The Like 125 EV can connect to the smartphone via an app to access information such as battery level and speed, but also navigation using the GPS of the mobile phone. The digital display is also informative and large enough for the size of the scooter. Also present a USB charger for smartphones and reverse to facilitate parking and maneuvering in confined spaces.
