Land Rover Defender 130 arriving May 31st

With a teaser showing him in his natural space (the desert), Land Rover has announced that the 31 maggio will make the official presentation of the new Defender 130. And, an absolute novelty will be offered exclusively with an internal layout with 8 seats.

Indeed, as the British manufacturer says, the new Defender 130 must be “ready for any adventure thanks to a practical premium-class interior for up to eight passengers in three rows of seats”

With a length of 5.1 meters, the new Defender 130 will be the “superior” version in the British model range, alongside the variants with the code “90” and “110” but also the professional Hard Top.

It is worth noting that the original Defender 130 had an enlarged wheelbase, but the newer version length 342 mm in terms of length compared to the “110” version due to its larger cantilevers. It should also be 227 mm greater than its main rival, which is none other than the Mercedes Classe G.

There is currently no information on the powertrains that will drive the new Defender 130. However, Land Rover it should not limit the commercial presence of the new model to a single version. In fact it is probable the use of engines already tested with the smaller “90” and “110”.

We remind you that the latter are initially offered in the P300 and P400 petrol versions, respectively with 4 and 6 cylinders. The latter is accompanied by a mild hybrid propulsion system. In addition, potential buyers of the model can choose from one plug-in hybrid version and two diesel versions, the D200 and the D240. Both offer 4-cylinder engines under the front hood.

The new Defender, built with Discovery at the Land Rover factory in Nitra, Slovakia. It will be sold in nearly 130 different markets around the world and with over 170 optional customization accessories.
