The actress who will play Lilo, the child protagonist of the new live action Disney, Lilo & Stitch has finally been revealed
The fever of live action taken from the classics Disney it doesn’t seem to want to stop. After months of mystery, it has finally been announced that it will be Maia Kealoha to fill the role of Lilo Pelekai, the Hawaiian girl who will welcome the blue alien Stitch into her home. Maia is a very young debutant actress; of her it is known that she has participated in some competitions Little Miss Kona Coffeea youth pageant for very young girls in Hawaii and like Lilo, has a passion for Tahitian dance. Although the news about it is almost completely absent, we also know that the project will see the involvement of Zach Galifianakis (the famous Alan Garner in The Hangover); however, his role still remains a mystery, although some argue that he has been contacted to voice a character, probably little Stitch.
The live action will be directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (also author of Marcell the Shell, nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film), while Chris Kekaniokalani Bright will take care of the screenplay. Among the producers there will be Dan Lin, Jonathan Eric e Ryan Halprin. The new film is based on the Disney classic of the same name, released in 2002 and nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Film in 2003 (Award won by Spirited Away, by Hayao Miyazaki). The film has been in the works for some years now, but appears to still be in development.

The story is about the little girl Usage and the alien Stitch. The latter, called by its creators experiment 626, was raised by the Galactic Confederation, with the aim of destroying everything. One day, however, the funny little blue monster manages to escape and reach Earth, on the island of Kauai, in the Hawaiian archipelago. After taking the form of a dog, he will meet Lilo, an orphaned girl who lives with her older sister. To help her overcome her loneliness, Lilo allows Lilo to keep her “pet,” naming him Stitch. The time has come for him to understand what it means to be loved.

Being still under development, not much is known about when we will finally be able to see this new film.
