Today Eidos-Montreal has released new gameplay footage following the global announcement of the release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy at 3. We find Star-Lord and the Guardians on the verge of starting negotiations with Lady Hellbender, leader of the Hellraisers, queen of Seknarf Nine and notorious monster collector.
It will be up to the players to decide which of the two “rare monsters” (Rocket or Groot) to sell, triggering a sequence of events that will lead our misfit heroes to experience a crazy adventure for the whole cosmos, with the very fate of the universe at risk.
Thanks to the exclusive comments of Darryl Purdy, Cinematics & Animation Director at Eidos-Montréal, it is immediately clear that things are not exactly what they seem and that Lady Hellbender could be much more than an intergalactic collector of monsters.
In the words of Darryl Purdy: “Lady Hellbender is a much loved character from the latest Marvel comics, and we have gone to great lengths to make her presence in the Guardians universe reflect the personality and complexity that fans have come to expect from her. Working on a game so full of humorous situations allowed us to overturn the expectations of the audience and introduce an unexpected dynamic between her and a certain Destroyer. ”
Performance capture as an added value to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
Finally, Darryl also tells us about the productive process, underlining the importance ofuse of performance capture in creating an intergalactic cast of characters. Nearly six hours of interactive footage were produced for this multifaceted and completely original story.
