The next Matrix movie it will no longer be directed by the Wachowski sisters. The next director of Matrix 5 will in fact be Drew Goddard. In the last film of the saga we were already orphaned by Laurence Fishburne, something that already broke our hearts, but which in any case remained a choice of the original authors of the saga. But now things will change even more with the direction of Drew Goddard, although still, in any case, Lana Wachowski will remain executive producer. But will this be enough to maintain the same quality seen in the films released so far?
Drew Goddard to direct Matrix 5: change of direction?
At the moment practically nothing is known about the plot, we don't even know if the undisputed protagonist of the saga will return in the film, Keanu Reeves. What Warner Bros revealed to us is that the director of The Martian, Drew Goddard, presented himself to Warner studios with an idea that, according to them, is brilliant to be able to continue the historic film saga. A saga that, not exaggeratedly speaking, wrote the history of cinema. The Matrix is a cult saga, which was built from the brilliant ideas of the Wachowski sisters, so this change of direction can be scary, especially if the whole story has been based on the ideas of the same people all these years. Drew Goddard spoke about his entry into the franchise:
It's not hyperbole to say that the Matrix films changed cinema and my life. Lana and Lilly's artistry inspires me on a daily basis, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories set in their world.
Even if the change of direction can be scary, it must still be said that Drew Goddard has a very respectable resume.
