Metal Gear Solid: The saga disappears en masse from the marketplaces

Two chapters of Metal Gear Solid disappear from all marketplaces, while Konami renews the rights to the historical material seen in the games

The places to dabble in Solid Snake are already dwindling in number (at the risk of repeating ourselves), but now the Metal Gear it is also disappearing from the marketplaces that hosted it. The future of the saga for now is shrouded in a thick fog, but also after the divorce with Hideo Kojima the publisher Konami cast an aura of doubt on the series by announcing its disappearance from all digital stores starting today. As often happens in these cases it is mostly a matter of licenses, so we can at least hope that the wait is not the most prohibitive.

Metal Gear Solid: marketplace eater

Konami’s announcement is about Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and the prequel Snake Eater, both removed with immediate effect from the marketplaces. According to the publisher, the idea is to “renew the licenses for specific historical material used in the games”. Therefore, both the single versions and the collections that contain them will disappear in the same way. Specifically, we allude to:

  • METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SONS OF LIBERTY HD EDITION (PlayStation 3)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 3 SNAKE EATER HD EDITION (PlayStation 3)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID HD EDITION (PlayStation 3)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SONS OF LIBERTY HD EDITION (PlayStation Vita)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 3 SNAKE EATER HD EDITION (PlayStation Vita)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID HD COLLECTION (PlayStation Vita)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID HD COLLECTION (PlayStation Now)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID HD EDITION: 2 & 3 (Xbox 360)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER 3D (Nintendo 3DS)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE (GOG.com)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 2 HD for SHIELD TV (NVIDIA SHIELD)
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 3 HD for SHIELD TV (NVIDIA SHIELD)

Metal Gear Solid: The saga disappears en masse from the marketplaces

It is not yet known when the products will be available for purchase again. We also recall that a recent leak suggested that the Virtuos development team is working on a remake of Snake Eater. To echo the alleged news is the LinkedIn profile of a former employee of the development team, which alludes to a “triple A action-adventure remake not yet announced”.
