Like many of its competitors, Moto Morini has also chosen EICMA 2021 to present a new motorcycle model: in this case it is the crossover. X-Cape 2022. There is a lot to expect from this bike, which will compete directly in the mid-displacement ADV segment with such sacred monsters as the Yamaha Ténéré 700 and Aprilia Tuareg 660.
For starters, the first glance at the X-Cape makes it clear that this bike was designed with rally racing in mind. The robust adventure, which Moto Morini says will be 100% made in Italy, seems ready to attack the stages of the Dakar Rally right away. It gets an aggressive bodywork and a high driving position thanks to the long-travel suspension. Just like other adventure bikes capable of tackling even the most complicated off-roaders, the X-Cape achieves neutral ergonomics that are intended to give the rider ample control of the vehicle when tackling more technical sections on and off-road. Not surprisingly, it boasts a six-point adjustable handlebar, adaptable for a large variety of motorcyclists who will thus be able to obtain maximum comfort while riding.
Moto Morini X-Cape 2022, there will also be a version for A2 license holders
At the heart of the X-Cape 2022 is a 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine rated at 59hp, which puts it at a slight disadvantage over its competitors in the same range. However, it makes up for this lack of power with tires Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR ready for off-road vehicles mounted on 19-inch and 17-inch wheels respectively. Suspension-wise, the X-Cape boasts some pretty impressive hardware. We find shock absorbers fully adjustable in the front and back, consisting of robust 50 mm inverted forks treated by Italian suspension experts of the Marzocchi company. The rear suspension is also adjustable in preload and rebound.
The information is displayed legibly via a large TFT color display customization via four different graphic styles. It is also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, which allows you to pair your smartphone and integrate a Bluetooth communicator at the same time. It also serves as a control module for the electronic functions of the motorcycle, including the tire pressure sensor and switchable ABS.
The new Moto Morini X-Cape should arrive in European showrooms in 2022 and will be available in three colors: Red Passion, Carrera White e Smoky Anthracite. It will be available both in the standard version and in a weakened version for holders of an A2 license, which can subsequently be brought back to “normal” if the driver obtains an A license.
