Windows 11 (here for more info on the operating system) has finally gotten support for the tabs in File Explorer with Sun Valley 2 (version 22H2) which will be launched in the fall. The support for browser-like tabs in File Explorer will finally make it easier for users to be able to switch between windows. In addition to the tabs, File Explorer will also have a new cluttered free navigation sidebar.

Microsoft (here for more info) presented the new File Explorer on Windows 11 in Beta e Dev Channel. The new tabs feature, enabled by default, allows you to easily switch between windows. In other words, you don’t need to open new Explorer instances every time you want to browse more than one folder or directory at the same time.

This is especially useful if you have a habit of opening more File Explorer instances / windows. By opening the tabs, you can reduce resource usage and stay productive.

Although the update will be rolled out gradually, there is still a chance that Microsoft will make further improvements to File Explorer performance. Everyone will immediately receive this feature in Windows 11 22H2 when it launches for the public in Autumn. Microsoft is apparently testing this new File Explorer with some users in Windows 11 22H2 o versioni successive.
