From the Nintendo Direct stage, good news for fans: after more than ten years Mario is back to being a 2D side scroller with Super Mario Bros Wonder, let’s find out the trailer and release date with this dedicated article
On the stage of the last Nintendo Direct, Mario was the absolute protagonist (it must be admitted come on). After the excellent performance of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (of which you can find our review if you click here!), the great N is back with great fanfare also with its second flagship franchise, announcing many remakes, remasters and , no less, than a new 2D side-scrolling Mario after more than ten years. In fact, from memory the last of the genre dates back to 2012, with New Super Mario Bros U for Wii U (later coming to Nintendo Switch in 2019).
Super Mario Bros Wonder shows itself with trailer and release date: a return to 2D!
Presented therefore, complete with trailer and release date, Super Mario Bros Wonder, which will arrive exclusively for Nintendo Switch on October 20th. The new gimmick of the game, as you can also see from the presentation trailer above, is the Wonder Flower which lends its name to the title and which transforms each level into something completely different. The new fruit was also presented, this time in the shape of an elephant and which (just think about it) transforms Mario into an elephant.
The title will allow up to four players to play in local co-op and you can choose the character with which to attempt the adventure, among the most iconic Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Daisy, but many others will most likely be available. Nintendo’s description of the game reads (translated into Italian):
Super Mario Bros Wonder is the next evolution of the 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros games and is coming to the Nintendo Switch. When you touch a Wonder Flower in the game, wonders of the world can unlock and, for example, pipes can come to life, hordes of enemies can appear, characters could change their appearance, transforming gameplay in completely unexpected ways.
