The third anniversary of Octopath Traveler brings with it an air of sequels: the wind of Square-Enix blows in the direction of a new journey
Square-Enix celebrated the third anniversary of Octopath Traveler with a tweet in which he left a clue for a sequel. RPG has won considerable fandom as the latest in a long line of titles inspired by the most classic chapters. The first seeds have already been seen in 2010 with Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. Later, Square-Enix re-proposed the same ideas with the spiritual sequel of the early Final Fantasy, Bravely Default on Nintendo 3DS, which in turn led to Bravely Second on the handheld and Bravely Default II on Nintendo Switch.
Octopath Traveler’s third anniversary sequel?
On the occasion of the third anniversary, the official account of Octopath Traveler has hinted that it is working on the sequel. After all, dealing with the original game of eight wayfarers, talk about “a new journey”Leaves very little room for imagination. The Reddit post that reported the tweet also translated it, and the original text also includes this promise. Most likely, the new chapter will offer the same 2D-HD graphic style that transforms the simple mix of sprites and polygons into authentic dioramas. If this were the case, the resulting game would be in good company.

We are referring to two projects in the pipeline, the first of which is the strategic one Project Triangle Strategy. We would not be too surprised if the provisional name were to remain on day one as it happened with the original title. The second is instead Dragon Quest III 2D-HD Remake, which will spice up the fighting with more dynamic views than the classic close-up on enemies. We will keep you informed if there is any news, but we still would not count this as an actual official announcement. If anything, it is a project still in the early planning period. It is sure to be a really good year for RPGs!
