Blizzard’s promise to introduce the long-awaited cross-play mode in its flagship FPS dates back to the beginning of the month. How does cross-play work on Overwatch?
Various details about how cross-play works in Overwatch had already been explained via a FAQ on the official Blizzard website. All players of all platforms (so Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC) will have the opportunity to play cross-play. For console players, in particular, it will be necessary to connect to a account Blizzard to make it possible. As game director Aaron Keller specified:
By default, a group of console players will play against other console players. A group of PC players will play against other PC players, and the same goes for groups made up of both PC and console players.

Such a novelty it will not introduce cross-save instead: it will therefore not be possible for players to use the same save on different platforms.
