IL BEL PAESE is a photographic exhibition born from a project by Stefano De Luigi, with the support of Gloria Viale and Palazzo Ducale of Genoa Foundation for Culture and Archive of Contemporary Art of the University of Genoa: let’s find out where it is possible to see this project created with the support of FUJIFILM Italia.
From today, 14 September to 15 October 2023, the exhibition “Il Bel Paese” will be set up at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, a work by Stefano De Luigi which continues the reflection on the contemporary landscape and its representation started in 2012 with iDyssey. As a technical partner, FUJIFILM Italia supported the project and made the reliability of the GFX system available to the author for its implementation. The project was shot with GFX50SII, GF45-100mmF4 R LM OIS WR, GF63mm F2.8 R WR.

The Bel Paese is a journey along the 4,365 km of the Italian coast that gives us an unprecedented image of Italy, latent and mirroring that which belongs to the collective imagination.
From Trieste to Ventimiglia, passing through Venice and the Venetian lagoon, from the Romagna Riviera and the Adriatic coast up to Leuca, continuing along the Ionian coasts of Puglia and Basilicata up to Calabria, then going up the peninsula with the traditional stops: Paestum Naples, Rome and the Roman countryside, the Marmore waterfall, Florence, the Tuscan coast, Genoa and the Ligurian Riviera.
Through a union between photography and memory, places become a sort of hidden image, similar to the one that remains imprinted on sensitive photographic material, in that unique moment, before being revealed by development, just like a substrate of memory.
Places experienced and places imagined, places known and places forgotten, places of unexpected revelations and discoveries. A sort of visual archeology of the Italian landscape capable of prompting reflection at the same time on its transformations and on the history of its representation.
