Specialized in manual focus lenses and fixed focal length Samyang, having introduced the autofocus system in its lenses since 2016, today takes another step forward. The new Samyang AF 24-70mm f / 2.8 FE it is in fact the first zoom of its range.
It had been anticipated by some rumors but now Fowa, distributor for Italy, has formalized the imminent arrival on the Italian market of this perspective with which the company celebrates its fiftieth birthday.
Technical features
The new Samyang AF 24-70mm f / 2.8 FE is currently born only with E attachment for Sony mirrorless cameras and inside we find 17 elements divided into 14 groups. Among these elements we find two aspherical lenses, one H-ASP lens, three high refractivity lenses and three very low dispersion lenses. The use of these special elements helps to counteract aberrations and to offer the best possible resolution.
The autofocus is managed by a Linear STM motor, silent and precise both in the photo and video field. The minimum focusing distance is 35cm.
The f / 2.8 aperture of this lens is constant throughout the focal range and offers a pleasant bokeh effect thanks to the nine-blade structure.
Samyang has equipped this lens with some specific features for the videomaker. In particular, there is By-Focal, a mode whereby the focus on the subject is maintained even when the focal length is changed. We also find the function Linear MF Focus Control which helps in manual fire operations e Cinematic Video AF. Thanks to this last function, the autofocus will be more stable.
On the barrel of the new Samyang AF 24-70mm f / 2.8 FE there is a switch that allows you to use the focus ring to adjust the aperture instead.
Availability and price of Samyang AF 24-70mm f / 2.8 FE
The new Samyang AF 24-70mm f / 2.8 FE, also protected from the elements, will be available starting in November at a suggested retail price of € 899.99.
