SEGA’s new frontier of the hedgehog unbuttons: after a long wait, we have a presentation trailer for Sonic Frontiers

We could talk for hours about the long press silence that has punctuated the almost non-existent marketing campaign of Sonic Frontiersbut SEGA finally gave us a lift with a presentation trailer brand new. The video, available with subtitles in our local language, reviews many key aspects of the game. That this may be enough to dispel the clouds of skepticism among the always severe and demanding fans of the blue trail, then, is another matter. If nothing else, now the development team’s plan to marry the hedgehog with the open world is undoubtedly clearer.

Sonic Frontiers for the occasion is shown in a presentation trailer

The trailer doesn’t show scenes from the game, but it undoubtedly illustrates Sonic Frontiers’ narrative plot well. In their search for the Chaos Emeralds, the eponymous protagonist, Tails and Amy find themselves in another world with no apparent way back. At this point, ours learns that it has ended up on the shore of Kronos, one of the ruined islands of the Starfall archipelago. The game alternates linear levels (those of the so-called Cyberspace) and exploration ofopen world islander. Completing levels and solving puzzles helps expand both the explorable areas of the map and the skill tree with which to scour the world from top to bottom.

The skills of Sonic will therefore go to gradually unlock, and the same goes for bridges to be erected and doors to be opened. The highlight of the moveset available to the bold porcupine, however, remains the Cycloop. The player is encouraged to get around enemies and elements to interact with in the exploratory phases. This move indeed boasts different effects depending on the context. As for the waiting that presents itself before us, we will have it untilNovember 8. The game will be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4 e PS5.
