Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM: Extraordinary resolution in a light and compact body
The new FE 14mm F1.8 GM features a compact optical design of 8.57 x 10.16 cm and weighing only 462 g, and for advanced optical technology, which guarantees superb resolution and exceptional contrast. Two elements XA (extreme aspherical) maintain excellent resolution across the entire image, corner-to-corner, and allow weight and size to be so reduced. Two ED glass elements (Extra-low Dispersion) e one Super ED result in optical refinements that suppress chromatic aberration and ensure excellent contrast and precise rendering at any aperture.
Thanks to’maximum aperture of F1.8point light sources can be faithfully reproduced – a perfect solution for astrophotography or shooting in other dimly lit environments, without the need for extremely slow shutter speeds. When shooting in complex lighting conditions, the originaland Sony’s Nano AR Coating II technology minimizes glare and reflections.
FE 14mm F1.8 GM is capable of producing beautiful bokeh effects at F1.8, even with the ultra-wide focal length of 14mm. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.24m, the FE 14mm F1.8 GM opens up new possibilities for close-up shots and shooting and brings to life the beautiful bokeh effects typical of Sony’s premium G Master lenses. Furthermore, XA elements, 9-blade circular aperture and optimized aberration compensation allow the FE 14mm F1.8 GM to produce soft bokeh in the background, without the annoying “onion-ring” effect.

Thanks to two XD linear motors (eXtreme Dynamic), it is possible to acquire and maintain focus with great precision, even in the case of shallow depth of field at F1.8 – professional photographers can rely on the lens to get the perfect shot even in complex situations. Additionally, the FE 14mm F1.8 GM boasts silent AF with minimal vibration and smooth focus, ideal for video shooting.
Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM: professional-grade control and reliability
The new lens also integrates numerous advanced and versatile control options, including a focus lock button, focus mode selector and focus ring to ensure convenient and efficient use in a variety of circumstances. For even more customization, various functions can be assigned to the focus lock button from the camera body interface. Thanks to the linear response MF built into the Sony FE 14mm F1.8 GM, manual focusing is precise and immediate. There is also an aperture ring for intuitive aperture control. FE 14mm F1.8 GM is also equipped with a rear filter holder suitable for standard ND filters, for color correction, soft filters, etc., for maximum creative freedom.
The design resistant to dust and moisture it ensures the necessary reliability in the most difficult conditions of use. The front lens element is treated with a fluorine coating that repels water, grease and other contamination. To always stay clean when replacing the filter, the rear element also features the same coating. The integrated petal lens hood manages to effectively intercept the light coming from the outside, which could give rise to glare and reflections.
