Sony announced that they will be available soon new firmware updates for the FX6 full-frame camera and for its high-end digital film camera, Venice 2. At vFX6 ersion 4.0 and Venice 2 version 2.1 will arrive this summer, while version 3.0 for Venice 2 will arrive in early 2024.
Attendees of this year’s Cine Gear Expo, which takes place June 1-4 at the Studios at Paramount in Hollywood, California, will be able to preview updates to the firmware for FX6 version 4.0 and Venice 2 version 2.1 visiting the Sony Electronics stand (Floor 14 – S1412).

Launched in November 2020, FX6 has become one of the most popular compact full-frame camcorders by film professionals. Version 4.0 of the FX6 expands the cinematic capabilities of the camcorder by adding new features. Like a function Desqueeze for anamorphic lenses with 1.3x or 2.0x options.
Also, FX6 version 4.0 adds the autofocus support in S&Q mode. Autofocus is available for 7 fps or more in S&Q (Slow & Quick) mode.
In addition to the features listed above, FX6 version 4.0 includes support Who EI Quick, which offers the same production workflow as Cinema Line cameras, including the FX30 and FX3. Now, the file naming is the same as that of high-end CineAlta cameras such as FX9, Venice and Venice 2.
Version 2.1 of Venice 2 (and version 3.0 for next year)

In addition to FX6 version 4.0, there is an update for Venice 2, with version 2.1. Improves zoom to fit function when sensor is in 3:2 aspect ratio. Version 2.1 now crops the 16:9 aspect ratio from the entire 3:2 full-frame area. In addition, the will also be added 2:39:1 zoom to fit function for 3:2 sensor modes.
Next year version 3.0 will comedesigned based on feedback from the film community and includes a new guideline generator, improved high frame rate anamorphic modes and an improved functionality for live events.
The new updates of FX6 Version 4.0 and Venice 2 Version 2.1 will be available from summer 2023, while VENICE 2 Version 3.0 will be available in early 2024. Filmmakers can easily download the update directly on your camera with a PC or Mac. Read more here.
