Sony has unveiled its new wide-angle zoom lens G Master SEL-1635GM2designed for α (Alpha) 35mm full-frame E-mount cameras. This lens offers exceptional image quality, with a variable focal length from 16 to 35 mm and a constant aperture of F2.8 throughout the range.
The SEL-1635GM2 presents itself as an ideal lens for professionals and enthusiasts of photography and video, who want to make the most of the creative potential and auto focus (AF) Advanced G Master Series. Thanks to its small size and light weight, it is also the most agile and handy lens in its class. The SEL-1635GM2 completes the range of F2.8 aperture G Master zoom lenses, which also includes standard zoom (24-70mm) and telephoto zoom (70-200mm). All of these lenses guarantee the high resolution typical of Alpha systems, which allows for breathtaking shots and footage.
Sony: A high-resolution, compact and lightweight F2.8 wide-angle zoom lens
The lens is based on a new optical design, which makes best use of the XA (extreme aspherical) element with very high surface accuracy. This allows you to maintain a high resolution with an aperture of F2.8 throughout the focal range. The XA element has a unique aspherical shape, which allows for greater design freedom.
SEL-1635GM2 also produces a beautiful bokeh effect, characteristic of the G Master series, and offers excellent close-up performance at any focal length, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.22m and a maximum magnification of 0.32x. The Sony Nano AR Coating II reduces reflections and halos. This allows you to obtain clear and contrasted images, even in the presence of intense light sources. At 111.5 mm in length and weighing approximately 547 g (20% less than the previous model), the SEL-1635GM2 is the world’s smallest and lightest wide-angle zoom.
A fast and silent autofocus, perfect for the most advanced cameras
SEL-1635GM2 is equipped with XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors last generation. Motors that ensure silent autofocus and twice as fast as conventional lenses. This is ideal for both photography and video. The autofocus is also very accurate at tracking moving subjects, even when recording video at a high frame rate. Using the SEL-1635GM2 on an α1 camera, a continuous shooting speed of 30 fps can be achieved, without compromising the speed, accuracy and quietness of focusing.
The new SEL-1635GM2 wide-angle zoom lens will be available from various Sony authorized dealers across Europe from September.
