State of Play | KartRider Drift: annunciato il free-to-play per PS4

“One way or another”, with the free-to-play KartRider for PS4 the State of Play shows the only Drift capable of making Nintendo worry

On the notes of “One way or another” by Blondie, the last State of Play put us at the starting grid of one of the last cheers for PS4, the free-to-play driving KartRider Drift. Nexon’s kart racer is the latest in an already established, although less well-known series (thanks to the exclusive publication in Southeast Asia) of the brand that laid the foundations of the genre. After the debut of the saga in 2004 with Crazyracing Kartrider, this new chapter does not aim exclusively at the arrival on Sony consoles: the stages of the tour also include PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X e Series S.

We were joking about Drift, but State of Play’s free-to-play KartRider for PS4 is no joke

Beyond the PS4 version, obviously the fulcrum of the trailer shown during the State of Play, the cross-platform release of the free-to-play KartRider Drift also points to a cross-play and cross-progression system for all formats, so not unlike Fortnite. There closed beta for the title will be available on Sony consoles starting fromDecember 8. There will be two modes available, seven playable characters and several customization options. The basic idea with which the game aims to distance itself from the dogmas of the genre is the division into two modes, one for driving with tools and another for technical driving.

According to Nexon, theregistration to participate in the beta will be open to all within the next few hours on the website. Both the game itself and its beta version will likely also be expected on PS5 via backward compatibility. Launch is slated for PC and Xbox this year and PS4 next year, although Nexon hasn’t provided exact dates. A curious choice, this, for two reasons. The first consists in the fact that “this year” is no longer such a large window, while the second reason concerns the decision to emphasize the title at the expense of its exclusivity for competition until next year.
