MUBI and Teodora Film have announced the theatrical release date of Strange Way of Life, the new short film by Pedro Almodóvar starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal
MUBI, the global distributor as well as streaming service and production company, and Teodora Film regarding the Italian side, have announced the release date of Strange Way of Life, the new short film by Pedro Almodóvar: the September 21, 2023. Before arriving exclusively on MUBI, the acclaimed project will be released for a short time in cinemas.
Directed by the prolific director Pedro Almodovarpresented by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello and produced by El Deseo, Strange Way of Life stars Ethan Hawke (Moon Knight, First Reformed, Prima dell’Alba) e Peter Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian).
Strange Way Of Life: set a release date
The film was presented in world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2023 and is Almodovar’s second English-language short, after 2020’s The Human Voice, starring Tilda Swinton. The synopsis for Strange Way of Life reads:
Ranchero Silva (Pedro Pascal) crosses the desert on horseback to visit his old friend Jake (Ethan Hawke), the sheriff of Bitter Creek whom he hasn’t seen in 25 years. An evening of confidences, memories and reconciliations will follow. However, the following day, the revelation that they both have a connection to a crime in the area suggests that their encounter is more than just a trip down memory lane.
The short film, shot in the Tabernas desert, in Almeria, tells the story of two men who meet again after twenty-five years. The music is by Alberto Iglesias, the costumes by Saint Laurent while the cast, in addition to the two very famous protagonists, also includes the young talents Jason Fernandez, José Condessa, George Steane and Manu Ríos, as well as actors such as Pedro Casablanc and Sara Sálamo.
