The Game Awards 2021: an ex-BioWare will present his new game

While BioWare appears to have nothing scheduled for The Game Awards 2021, a former studio member is expected to introduce his new game.

On the date reserved for the celebration of Dragon Age Day, BioWare had written in a post on the Electronic Arts website that they were working hard in the creation of the next chapter, saying they could reveal more over the next year and therefore making it clear that there would be no trailer during The Game Awards 2021. Moreover, even for Mass Effect it seems that the wait will still be long. Meanwhile, it is revealed that a former BioWare member, former studio general manager Aaryn Flynn, plans to reveal his new game at the event.

The new game from the former Bioware that will be seen at The Game Awards 2021

Several months after the somewhat troubled launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda, Aaryn Flynn left BioWare to join Improbable Worlds Limited studio in Edmonton. Always remaining in the role of General Manager, the former BioWare now seems ready to reveal the work he has worked on together with his new studio over the past few years at The Game Awards. However, there is very little information about the new game: all that is known is that it will be an online RPG game and developed with the Unreal Engine 4, as well as with the Spatial OS technology. It is a cloud-based technology, which allows you to create environments for multiplayer that support a huge number of players, all within one server.

Speaking about his new project during an interview, Aaryn Flynn had stated that being able to build something in this type of scale was an essential factor in the development of the title, as well as a possibility to know the limits of their SpatialOS technology. Furthermore, the study would not actually point to actual numbers, but rather to use the technology for give rise to “an ideal RPG experience”.

Flynn argues that with it it will be possible to give an immense degree of freedom to the players, allowing them to interact with each other and create important bonds, drawing inspiration a little from the reproduction of the sensations given by the classic tabletop role-playing games. With this new title that can be seen at The Game Awards 2021, Flynn therefore aims to bring RPGs back to the fundamental aspect of role-playing, which he considers to have been excessively diluted in recent years.
