Here is a pleasant surprise for those who are anxiously awaiting the new live action of The Little Mermaid: a new teaser is available
After months of announcements, here it is finally Disney decided to launch a new piccolo teaser of the upcoming adaptation of a great classic: The little Mermaid. Although the leaked information has been very small, the new live action has already made a lot of talk about itself. So let’s find out what was shown in the new video.
The Little Mermaid: the teaser
Compared to other advances, released with a dropper in the past months by Disney, this time we have the opportunity to discover something new about the magical world of the abyss, where our Ariel lives. If before we could only see the mermaid sitting on a boulder, dreamily observing the surface, in this new teaser we can have a few more details. In fact, we discover a colorful, joyful world inhabited by magical creatures that pique the interest of the spectators. Even Ursula finally makes her appearance, albeit for a very few seconds. She can be seen at the end, where her fixed gaze, surrounded by long tentacles, rests on the viewer, while her evil laugh thunders menacingly at her.
plot and cast
The events told in this live action should resume the classic plot, which tells of Ariel, a mermaid who lives in the depths of the sea with her father King Triton and her sisters. However, life under the sea doesn’t seem to be for her, who instead dreams of being able to take a walk and live on the surface with humans. Convinced of her will, she decides to come to terms with the witch Ursula, to make her wish come true.
As has been known for some time, it will be Halle Bailey to take on the role of Ariel. At his side Jonah Hauer-Kingwho will play Prince Eric e Daveed Diggs in the role of Sebastian. King Triton will have the face of Javier BardemFlounder that of Jacob Tremblay and the seagull Scuttle that of Awkwafina. Last but certainly not least is Ursula, who in this live action will be played by Melissa McCarthy.
The new film is directed by Rob Marshall and scripted by David Magee e Jane Goldman. The soundtrack, which will alternate original music with already known songs, will instead be directed by the composer Alan Menken, already winner of 2 Oscars for these compositions; by his side lin manuel miranda.
The film will hit theaters on 26 maggio 2023.
