The review of the Logitech G502 X Plus gaming mouse: perfection made wireless

Logitech was the protagonist of a phenomenon among gamers around the world that takes the name of G502. If this alphanumeric code doesn’t tell you anything, let me tell you about the success of the mouse da gaming which has created a new standard of precision, efficiency and comfort in the industry. Since its debut, the 502 series and its variants, has been one of the most used among professional gamers and not only, but today Logitech wants to renew that success. To do so, he recently introduced the new family of Logitech G502 Xincluding the wireless gaming mouse Logitech G502 X Plus and this, not surprisingly, is his review.

La recensione del mouse da gaming Logitech G502 X Plus

The Logitech G502 X Plus represents the spearhead of the new 502 X series (together with the G502 X and the G502 X LIGHTSPEED) and combines the experience accumulated over the years by Logitech, the latest technology and all potential and versatility of wireless.

We are in fact facing a wireless gaming mouse that uses a professional connectivity level to offer a much faster response than the competition. There’s no shortage of adjustable PPE, a company-owned HERO 25K sensor, and much, much more.

But let’s start with order.

Design

Logitech has always got us used to one minimalist and elegant style but without making us give up those details typical of gaming devices. It goes without saying that the G502 X Plus keeps this tradition alive. The coloring we received for this review is a elegante all-black (in the photo above you can see it in white) characterized by a breach on the lower body that gives free rein to luci RGB. The central body is made of satin plastic which does not retain fingerprints (thanks Logitech!) while the sides, where we place the thumb and little finger, are made of knurled rubber for better grip.

The mouse is characterized, in addition to the classic buttons and the central wheel, by the iconic buttons on the side of the mouse and by two extra buttons on the top. Not only that, even the wheel, if programmed, can give us two extra keys by pressing it left and right bringing the total of keys available and programmable at 11. To these is also added the button to unlock and block the scrolling of the wheel in order to obtain the satisfying Inifnity Scroll.

In the lower part we find the on and off switch button, the Hero 25K sensor and the compartment that houses the USB sensor of the mouse. Here we also find the sensors for the ricarica Powerplay which we will explore in the paragraph on …

…technology!

Beautiful outside, very powerful inside. Logitech’s attention to the technology of its devices once again hits the mark. The son of a long experience in the mouse industry, the Logitech G502 X Plus gets the latest and greatest to ensure an exceptional gaming experience while offering excellent comfort for our gamer hands. Let’s start with the “clicks” now supported by technology SWITCH LIGHTFORCE with optical-mechanical technology. It is a hybrid technology that yields the speed of optical mice and the feel of mechanical keys. This combo reduces reaction times to the millisecondextremely important when it comes to competitive video games.

Similarly, special attention has been given to the mouse sensor, it is the HERO 25K sensor, the same used in the previous version. It is an advanced sensor capable of deliver truly great submicrometer accuracy which helped bring the G502 name to the top. The sensor also offers a maximum resolution capable of reach up to 25,600 adjustable DPI as well as aenergy efficiency equal to 10 times that of the Logitech G family.

Staying on the subject, it is only right to talk about the duration of the battery, you have not forgotten that we are dealing with a wireless mouse right? Well we’re talking about a battery that can last up to 120 hours on a single charge with RGB off or up to 37 hours with RGB constantly on. To this is added the aforementioned compatibility with the Logitech’s Powerplay technology, the wireless charging system which will make you completely forget about concepts like battery and charging. With Logitech Powerplay Mat wireless charging (sold separately), there will be no more time limits on your game.

Our test of the Logitech G502 X Plus

Logitech G502 X Plus recensione

To make this review, we tested the new Logitech G502 X Plus for about a month during which it became our everyday mouse. Important note, before its advent, the mouse of preference of who is writing this article is a Logitech G502 SE HERO. This clarification will serve us to do some math at the end of the article

Let’s start by saying that in terms of design and choice of materials, Logitech always wins. The mouse looks very good, with a small size and weight all in all (131.4 mm x 41.1 mm x 79.2 mm for 106g of weight) and it was easy and comfortable for us to move it on our mat. The Hero 25K sensor is an old acquaintance but it once again proves its worth by giving us sensational performances. We have used the mouse for every game in our library, from the more casual and quiet, such as The Simsto the fastest and most competitive ones such as League of Legends e Overwatch 2. In all cases it proved to be a precise and performing mouse and the delay of the action-reaction is practically non-existent, which has overcome one of our main doubts: the wireless.

Wireless technology has made great strides and performance is now virtually identical to wired mice. It must be said, however, that if you do not have the aforementioned powerplaythe risks of running out of battery in the middle of the action are real.

The Logitech G502 X Plus review in a nutshell: is it worth a change?

At this point we come to the fateful question. If I’m already coming from a G502 series mouse, does it make sense to upgrade to this new version? The answer obviously varies according to needs and individual situations but we have not found reasons to change. Most of the features, the most relevant, remain unchanged from the previous generation such as resolution in DPI (100 – 25,600 DPI), maximum acceleration (> 40g) or maximum speed (> 400 IPS). What improves, in addition to the design and better maneuverability, is all the versatility of wireless technology.

To this, however, they are inevitably added the limits of wireless, mainly represented by battery life. The gap “37 hours with RGB / 120 without RGB” is really a lot and just reading these figures we have a mad desire to deactivate any light present, greatly reducing the aesthetic appeal of the mouse.

The fact remains that this Logitech G502 X Plus is a truly exceptional and efficient mouse and the new version does nothing but reconfirm the potential of the G502 series that we have come to love. If you already have a Logitech G502, the leap in quality is not so evident because we are already at excellent levels. If you have not yet tasted the advantages of this renowned series, the Logitech G502 X Plus could be the right opportunity to let you be enchanted!
