The winners of the 2022 Silver Ribbons

The auteur cinema wins at the Nastri d’Argento which close the 76th edition in Rome at the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts: with the ‘Film of the Year’ Marx can wait by Marco Bellocchio, the Best Film 2022 with six Nastri, also for the leading actresses Teresa Saponangelo and Luisa Ranieri (It was the hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino).

With four ribbons Mario Martone wins for best direction. Ippolita Di Majo wins the award for the screenplay of Qui rido io e Nostalgia. Also for Nostalgia, the actors, Pierfrancesco Favino and in couple Francesco Di Leva and Tommaso Ragno win.

It was the hand of God also wins for the best producer Lorenzo Mieli with Paolo Sorrentino in a production The Apartment (company of the Fremantle group).

Three Nastri a Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti for editing, costumes and scenography (Francesco Di Stefano, Mary Montalto and Massimiliano Sturiale who also wins for The emotional material). Three also go to the ‘double’ for the best nominated comedy Come un gatto in tangenziale 2 – Return to Coccia di morti and Corro da te awarded together for the direction of Riccardo Milani and the production (Wildside, a company of the Fremantle group, Vision Distribution in collaboration with Sky and Amazon Prime Video).

For Corro da te Nastro also to the best comedy actress Miriam Leone.

To Laura Morante the special Nastro dedicated to two very important anniversaries in her professional history: her film debut, just over forty years ago, on the set with Giovanni and then Bernardo Bertolucci and in 2012 her directorial debut with Ciliegine.

In pairs the best actors of the comedy, Francesco Scianna and Filippo Timi for Il filo invisibile by Marco Simon Puccioni. To Francesco Scianna, in a very special year for his performances, also the Nastri d’Argento Persol / Personage of the Year award.

The special prizes

Among the special awards to the actors goes to Vanessa Scalera protagonist of L’Arminuta the Nastri / Nuovo Imaie Award, which gives the President of Nuovo Imaie, Andrea Miccichè. And Andrea Miccichè himself declares:

With Vanessa Scalera we reward a very talented actress who in Giuseppe Bonito’s film was able to emphasize more than ever the strong character nuances of a woman, the victim of a difficult destiny, with a lot of heart, but also with a lot of firmness.

And it is a much loved actor like Edoardo Leo to receive the Nastri / Hamilton Behind the camera award. He received it for the exploit he gave us, in addition to interpretations, as an author and director not only with Leave a day in Rome, a great success on the platform and then in the cinema, but also for the direction of the documentary on Gigi Proietti.

Finally, the ‘cameo’ of the year: after protagonists such as Adriano Panatta and Giuliano Sangiorgi, the Nastro goes to Drusilla Foer, the dark grandmother of Semper bello.

The Silver Ribbons 2022

The most voted at the Nastri d’Argento 2022

Among the most voted, the Film Journalists have attributed two tapes to Ariaferma by Leonardo Di Costanzo, awarded for best actor, this year, in ex aequo with Favino, Silvio Orlando – who also wins as the protagonist for The hidden child by Roberto Andò – and for the photography of Luca Bigazzi: also here an ex aequo with the photography of It was the hand of God by Daria D’Antonio, an award-winning film also for the Casting directors Annamaria Sambucco and Massimo Appolloni.

Also reported by the Film Journalists To Chiara with a special tape to the author, Jonas Carpignano and with the Graziella Bonacchi Award to the leading actress, Swamy Rotolo, the youngest in the cast of this edition which scores, among other things, right between the awards dedicated to the actresses, the return of two protagonists awarded a year ago, Teresa Saponangelo (It was the hand of God) who also obtained the Nastri / Wella Award for the image and, as already mentioned, Miriam Leone for the comedy .

In the category of Supporting Actress, Luisa Ranieri, on the other hand, wins again for Sorrentino’s film. And the newcomer Giulia Louise Steigerwalt is directed by women, also author of the story and screenwriter of the film, with Settembre.

The tapes for the sound technical team of Il Buco by Michelangelo Frammartino (Benny Atria, Matteo Gaetani and Marco Saitta) will be collected by the authors of the direct recording Simone Paolo Olivero and Paolo Benvenuti.

For music and song, on the other hand, the journalists’ vote awarded the talent of Oscar winner Nicola Piovani (Leonora addio by Paolo Taviani and the De Filippo brothers by Sergio Rubini) and the best song of the year, The depth of the abysses by Manuel Agnelli written and interpreted for Diabolik.

Young cinema

A lot of young cinema among the journalists’ awards: with the Ribbon for the best subject to Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo for Latin America, the ‘Guglielmo Biraghi Award’ for newcomers in the 21st year marks Filippo Scotti (It was the hand of Dio) and Lina Siciliano (A female) and together with the Nobis Foundation a collective prize goes to Giulia by Ciro De Caro, the most independent and low budget film of the 2021-22 selection, which tells, with the lightness of comedy, the loss of an even more evident generation due to the effects of the long pandemic season.

In this 76th edition, created as always with the support of the MiC Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Cinema, main sponsor of BNL Gruppo Bnp Paribas, different styles and generations and surprises in a year that, especially between the beginnings (with an interesting presence of authors, directors and screenwriters) and among young people, marks a turning point in the candidacies and in the vote of the Journalists and adds novelty to the cinema of the ‘greats’, so protagonist in the last season in spite of the great difficulties that the cinema in the hall continues to live in this period.

Laura Delli Colli, the President of the National Board, declares:

We would like to remember, however, while hoping for a recovery for the still suffering sector, that also for the Nastri d’Argento 76 the Board of the Syndicate also worked on many titles seen on the platform, reporting at the end about 40 films released between the 1st June 2021 and May 31, 2022.

In addition to the tapes, the Nino Manfredi Award closes this session, which will be awarded, as usual, this year on the stage of the Taormina Film Fest on July 1st.
