One of Sony’s first franchises, Twisted Metal, has been placed in the freezer for some time now, but apparently Sweet Tooth’s ice cream cart may be on the road for a while now. reboot, at least if the rumor is reliable. The foreign trade press, VideoGamesChronicle specifically, it joins the speculative scene: according to the new rumor, now the Twisted Metal reboot has changed the development team. No longer in the hands of Lucid Games, the project is now in the early stages of production at one of the European PlayStation studios. No more concrete reasons have been given for this, but it is possible to associate the cause of the change with the reception of criticism for Destruction AllStars. VGC’s tweet is laconic in its synopsis of the news, but it claims there has been contact from insiders.

We do not have a name for the studio concerned, but since it is (at least, we remember it, according to the indiscretion) of a European development team, it should be easy to narrow the field. One of the eligible candidates could be XDev of Liverpool, who in turn assisted at Destruction AllStars. In an unlikely coincidence, even these latest developers are themselves at the center of a rumor, which sees them working on the next WipEout. Previous leaks claimed that the future would be free-to-play for Twisted Metal, but it remains to be seen if the plans will remain the same.
