Underwater – Federica Pellegrini, film directed by Sara Ristori, is a documentary about the famous Italian swimmer, if not the most important female swimmer in our country. After taking part in five Olympics and winning several medals over the course of her sporting career, Federica is here withdrawn in November 2021 during the Italian Winter Championships. Today it is told for the first time, addressing the present and the past without filters. Federica’s goal has always been to get to play the Tokyo Olympics and so it was. The way to get there, however, was anything but downhill. From this premise the story of this docufilm starts, which pushes us into the depths of this extraordinary athlete and unique woman, through her dramas and her difficulties, which have led her to be one of the greatest Italian sportsmen ever.

The original music of Underwater – Federica Pellegrini was conceived and composed by Samuel, extremely prolific author and composer, artist with numerous collaborations, frontman and co-founder of Subsonica and founder of Motel Connection, with whom he made two soundtracks. The documentary is directed by Sara Ristori and written by Valdo Gamberutti, Sara Ristori and Davide Savelli with Alessandro Caroni.
