Recently, the boss of Valve, Gabe Newell, has expressed himself favorably regarding the possible introduction of Xbox Game Pass on Steam: here are all the details
The strength and spread of Xbox Game Pass was one of the last generation revolutions, which will be cemented even more in the current one of Xbox Series X | S. Microsoft’s desire to take its service everywhere has always been a focal point of the Redmond company’s strategy, aimed at favoring services more than platforms themselves. The new family of consoles created specifically for the new generation, in fact, seems to be more one of the many hardware on which to deepen and expand the Game Pass servicemore than video game machines in the strict sense, as maybe PlayStation 5 for Sony can be.
And if we talk about big companies and big services, it is difficult not to take into consideration Valve, the company that owns Steam, the largest online store for PC games. Recently, joined by the virtual microphones of PC Gamer, Gabe Newell has also spoken about the possibility of creating a service similar to the Game Pass, also in view of the upcoming arrival of Steam Deck. Newell’s response was negative, in this sense, as the company would not be interested nor would it need a similar service. He would, however, be more than happy to welcome the Game Pass.

In fact, Newell stated:
I don’t think creating a subscription service is something we need right now. For Microsoft customers, however, this is currently a very popular option [il Game Pass, ndr] and we would be more than happy to work with them to bring it to Steam as well.
Currently, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions on Windows and Xbox consoles work through their respective applications, and not through Steam. A statement, that of Newell, which comes after the confirmation of the closure of the Bethesda store scheduled for the month of May, considering that the company will from now on publish all its titles directly on Steam.
