Yakuza: the farewell of the creator of Ryu Ga Gotoku arrives

With a farewell message, Toshihiro Nagoshi, creator of the Yakuza series and founder of the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, announces his departure from the videogame house

In Nagoshi’s statement, he says he doesn’t know what will be created in the future. However, he thinks that with the baton passed to one new generation the foundations of the studio built over the last fifteen years will be improved, leading to the world of fantastic video games. Ryu Ga Gotoku founder and director of Yakuza, however, argues that she too will have to learn, try to challenge herself and grow. He concludes the message by asking fans to continue supporting the efforts and situations that will center the study.

Ryu Ga Gotoku and Yakuza: what the future of the series holds

Now, it’s Masayoshi Yokoyama’s job to lead Ryu Ga Gotoku, while director Horii and producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto will become the studio’s core leaders; future games of the Yakuza series will therefore remain with the new turn-based style of play and narrating the exploits of Ichiban Kasuga, innovations introduced in the last chapter of the series. He remembers how in August there were rumors about Nagoshi, close to entering NetEase, but no confirmation has yet been given on where the creator will end up. The producer too Daisuke Sato says goodbye to fans, revealing his departure from SEGA and thanking all gamers and colleagues with whom he was able to share the development of the series in his ten years of presence.

The director Masayoshi Yokoyama takes the reins of the company, presenting the its new structure. A statement by him is also included, in which he argues that it is “necessary to change within a changing world”. Explain how, at the beginning of everything, the studio lived in a precarious situation, and Nagoshi’s name was basically what characterized it. Yokoyama has always aimed for something different for Ryu Ga Gotoku and the Yakuza series, and says he has fought over the past decade to do so. The resistance it originally encountered has since transformed, and is now at ewrite the study by Nagoshi himself.

Maybe this abandonment will mean the birth elsewhere of new works by Nagoshi. For more video game news, follow us on our website TechGameWorld.com, and check out the Instant Gaming store for new games at low prices.
