Luigi Taraborrellifor 20 years executive of Lamborghinijoins the Cupertino team to work for Apple Car. Another sign that the first car with the Apple on the hood is about to go into production.

Ex-Lamborghini executive hired to work at Apple Car

The news comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who explains that Taraborrelli will help the Apple team work on the design of their very first car. The former Lamborghini was in charge of supervising the bodywork and aerodynamics of the vehicle with the engineers of the Emilian group, and beyond. It therefore seems that Apple wants an expert from one of the best-known automotive brands in the world for their electric car.

Rumors have Apple working on an electric vehicle since at least 2014. It seems that the project is still under the leadership of Kevin Lynchwho also leads the Apple Watch team, along with the head of machine learning John Giannandrea. But the experts on ‘classic’ cars are also arriving.

According to reports Wayne Ma of The Information, Apple already has guidelines in mind for their car. In fact, it would aim to have four seats that look at each other, since it will be an autonomous vehicle. So that Apple would have asked the US DMV for the possibility of launching a vehicle without a steering wheel and pedals. It should have a curved roof similar to a “Wolkswagen Beetle” and automatic doors.

But in reality, the question marks remain a lot, with Apple likely to be working on more models at this stage. According to Gurman and Ming-Chi analyst Kuo Apple could launch the car as early as 2025. But it seems more realistic to think of a arrival after this datea, also considering the recent problems in the supply chain for the entire automotive sector.

Also because perhaps the new Lamborghini executive could decide to focus on sportier lines. We will keep you posted.
