Nuovo Olimpo is the new film by Ferzan Ozpetek and will be released on Netflix: the platform announces the start of filming

Today officially begins the production of Nuovo Olimpo, the fourteenth film in the filmography of the famous Italian-Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek. The film will only see the light in 2023although there is still no precise date for its release, but the first take took place today in Rome, as he communicated Netflix by publishing some photos through their social channels. Ozpetek will return four years after his latest film, The Goddess of Fortune, and especially after his first, lucky experience in the world of TV series, with the remake of his own film The ignorant fairies, released on Disney Plus at the beginning of the year. Waiting to see new images and discover new news, let’s get to know the plot and the cast of the new film by Ferzan Ozpetek.

New Olympus: plot and cast

The film, whose shooting will take place in Rome, will be released, as mentioned, on Netflix in 2023 and will focus on an overwhelming love story set in the Italy of 70’s. The two young protagonists will be separated by a sudden event, but they will never stop hoping to be able to meet again one day. These are the few details we know about the plot, but surely knowing the director’s work the love story will be treated with its usual delicacy and with the eccentric touch that it gives to each production of him.

Il cast of Nuovo Olimpo is really very rich. The two protagonists are Damiano Gavino and Andrea Di Luigi: the first appeared in the series A professor with Alessandro Gassmann, the second is known for Guilt of the sea and Private Conversation. At their side we find Luisa Ranieri, longtime protagonist of Italian cinema, Greta Scarano, fresh from the Paramount Plus Circeo series, and Aurora Giovinazzo, who has dedicated herself to the general public with the interpretation of her in Freaks Out.

Clearly, there is still a lot left to see the new film by Ozpetek, whose shooting has just begun, but in the meantime let’s enjoy the first ones shots spread by Netflix.
