Nikon today unveiled the new all-rounder lens Nikkor Z DX 18-240mm f/3,5-6,3 VR for your Z series mirrorless with APS-C sensor. Development was announced a few months ago and is now a reality.
The new optic is extremely light, just 315g, but at the same time very versatile. The very wide focal range allows you to take advantage of this Nikkor Z DX 18-240mm in many different contexts, including video.
The characteristics of Nikkor Z DX 18-240mm
The new Nikkor lens is equipped with a VR optical stabilization system, allowing you to earn up to 5 stops. You will get sharp and steady images even in low light conditions.
The fast autofocus motor works in synergy with the AF modes of Nikon Z cameras, such as eye detection. But not only that, you can shoot with one minimum focusing distance of only 20cm at the minimum excursion, to reach 40cm when the zoom is fixed at 140mm.
Inside we find an optical scheme composed of 17 elements divided into 13 groups. Among these elements stand out 2 ED lenses and two aspherical elements, which counteract chromatic aberrations and work to offer the best possible resolution.
There is also a diaphragm with an electromagnetic mechanism to more precisely control the aperture and have a constantly stable exposure. Finally, there is no lack of protection for dust and water drops.
Availability and price
The new lens, perfect to accompany us on our travels without weighing down our backpack, will be available starting from the next one November. The price for Italy has not yet been indicated, but for the American market it is set at $ 600.
