John Cena presents the best costume award at the 2024 Oscars without actually wearing any type of costume
During the Academy Awards ceremony It’s typical for a series of silly and funny gags to be prepared to ease the tension a bit that is created during the ceremony which has always been carried out in a very rigid manner. This year it was John Cena to be the protagonist of one of these moments. His appearance on stage will probably go down in Oscar history. In fact, the wrestler/actor brought the envelope containing the name of the film that won the statuette for best costume design without wearing any type of costume.
Oscar 2024 John Cena’s gag pays homage to another moment in the history of the Oscars
His appearance on stage was sort of homage to another Oscar moment from 50 years ago. In fact, it references when a streaker walked across the stage during the Oscars ceremony in 1974. Jimmy Fallon in introducing the award presenter referred to that iconic moment in the history of the Academy. So after coming out from behind the stage John Cena came out of his hiding place covered only by the envelope with the winner’s name. At that point, to allow him to announce the winner, Jimmy Fallon wrapped him in a pink cloth like a tunic and it all turned out to be very funny since the sarcasm in John Cena’s voice was quite evident. Surely, just as the images of the 1974 episode went down in history, this gag from 2024 starring John Cena will also go down in history. In fact, it is a very successful gag and was also commented on on social media where there was no shortage of appreciation for the actor/wrestler’s physique.
