Resident Evil Village: Over Five Million Copies Sold!

In the past few hours, Capcom has released an update on the copies sold of Resident Evil Village, which have exceeded five million in total: record sales!

We admit it: we liked Resident Evil Village, and a lot too. You should have understood this from our full review, which you can find by clicking here, but Ethan’s new daring adventure it was not so much a surprise, given the good intentions of Resident Evil VII, as a pleasant confirmation. Capcom seems to have embarked on a new path for one of its flagship franchises, and it must be honest in saying that, although it has deviated enough from the beginning of the series, it seems to be the right one to renew without distorting “Resident Evil”. And gamers seem to have appreciated the same, considering that, in July, the game had sold over 4.5 million copies. And it didn’t stop there.

In fact, Capcom recently announced that, currently, Village has surpassed five million copies sold worldwide. In addition, the sales pace of this eighth chapter far exceeded what Resident Evil VII had at its launch in 2017. The company has also said that it intends to continue developing the brand and seek new collaborations with other companies to expand the universe of the franchise.

Resident Evil Village exceeds five million copies sold: record? Approximately…

However, it remains that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling title in the series, so it still has the eighth chapter to beat it. At this rate, however, it is very likely that it will get there pretty soon. Right now, Resident Evil Village has sold more than Resident Evil 2 did in its original release, while Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 have stalled at 7.9 million copies sold.
