Tamron specializes in consumer optics with strong excursion values. The latest addition is the Tamron 18-300mm f / 3.5-6.3 Di III-A2 VC VXD, with an astonishing 16.6x magnification factor with interesting opening values. It is still in development for the time being, but will be destined for both Sony’s and Fujifilm’s APS-C cameras; for the last ones it is finally a great opportunity to be able to choose lenses from other companies.
The important features are in its very extensive excursion, ideal for an all-round optic as a… sniper. The lens is built with everything expected from a modern perspective:
- low dispersion lenses
- moisture tolerant
- coating of the optical surfaces in fluorite
- image stabilizer
- a minimum focusing distance of 15 cm
Tamron 18-300mm f / 3.5-6.3 Di III-A2 VC VXD is a zoom for APS-C which is equivalent to a 27-450mm
The autofocus is performing thanks to VXD technology (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), basically Ultrasonic in other words.
Although it is an ideal optics for summer holidays we will see it at end of the year, with price yet to be confirmed. For more information you can consult the official Tamron website.
