Rogue Games and Sony have announced WipEout Rush a new racing game for Android and iOS, let’s see the details together
WipEout is one of many, many franchises PlayStation sleepers that hordes of fans were hoping to see return in the not too distant future, and like the collection WipEout Omega of 2017 proved all too well, this is a series that can offer some of the best racing experiences when at its best. Today it was announced that WipeOut will indeed return, but as a mobile game. WipEout Rush, this is the name of the latest incarnation of Sony’s historic racing saga, will in fact land on Android e iOS. Let’s see all the details about it in the next lines of this article.
WipEout Rush: the arrival is expected on Android and iOS in 2022
The publisher Rogue Games announced WipEout Rush per iOS e Android, a playing card-based racing game created specifically for mobile devices. With a cartoonish aesthetic and narrative style, the game will launch in 2022. It will feature a single player campaign, 12 championship cup races in five distinct environments and an original electronic soundtrack by Alastair Lyndsay.
Rogue Games CEO Matt Casamassina says WipEout Rush is designed to be a unique experience to offer something fans of the series may not be familiar with:
If I want that visceral, immersive and intense racing experience, I’ll find it waiting for me on PlayStation. But at the same time, we’re delighted to be able to rethink WipEout for mobile with some fun new game mechanics and gorgeous graphics. We hope fans come to it with an open mind because, while different, we are proud to bring the WipEout franchise back to the fore with a new take on the formula. We poured a lot of love into the presentation, which includes loads of iconic spaceships and tracks, a new comic book-inspired narrative, an electronic soundtrack, and gorgeous visuals that spin at 60 frames per second on modern hardware.
Sony has stated on multiple occasions in recent months that it intends to expand its focus on the gaming space for mobile devices and have a greater presence in the mobile market. Which is why, according to Sony, the biggest PlayStation franchises will get mobile adaptations in the future. As for whether WipEout has a future beyond mobile gaming, a recent leak claimed that a new WipEout game is currently in development for PS5 and PSVR 2 as well.
